Ni No Kuni Wiki

Nazcaä (also known as The Lost Continent) is a continent located southwest of the Summerlands and in the south-western corner of the world. It is the main landmass of The Spring Realm. The kingdom of Nazcaä had three great cities: Nazcaä, Tak'al, and Itzos. All that remains of the civilization now is Ara Memoriae, in the former site of the city of Nazcaä. It is shrouded in fog before the Ash Cloud falls on the world, and even after the mist clears, the whole continent is magically protected from intruders.

Only Tengri may trespass on Nazcaä for Oliver and company to gain access to the continent, and the dragon may only land on the hieroglyph resembling that of a dragon etched in the ground. Oliver may use Travel to reach Nazcaä, but only after he locates Ara Memoriae. Another hieroglyph located in front of Ara Memoriae for Tengri to gain access to can also be utilised once Oliver casts Rejuvenate on it.

Lore[]

Ten thousand years before the events of Ni no Kuni, Nazcaä was a country with advanced magic and technology. The people lived in luxury but due to greed and power, desired more, which started a century long war known as the Wizard Wars. During the war they would create war machines such as the Magimech. Ultimately, the war was ended in a matter of days by a Wizard wielding two wands, he would became the king of Nazcaä and given the title of Wizard King.

The Wizard King would rebuild Nazcaä and restore peace to the land. However, his corrupt Council of Twelve would eventually betray and assassinate him, shifting the blame to his 3 trusted generals. The next in line would be the Wizard King's daughter Cassiopeia, but she was too young and was taken advantage of by Council of Twelve by once more shifting the blame of their atrocities to her. Upon growing of age and realizing the state of her kingdom, she searched for a way to help her people. In a misguided attempt to solve all of the kingdom's problems, Cassiopeia discovered a Forbidden Spell in her Wizard's Companion. Unaware of the side effects, Cassiopeia cast Ashes of Resurrection, only to have backfire when the resulting ash that fell from the sky transformed everyone that the ash touched into wretches and monsters. The entire kingdom destroyed itself as the populace tore themselves apart. With Nazcaä's annihilation due to the Forbidden Spell, Cassiopeia ultimately fell into despair due to the solitude stretching on as centuries passed. At some point, Cassiopeia's Wizard's Companion and her first wand was sent to Ichi no Kuni.

In the ruin, the only thing to survive were the Magimech who started wandering around the world seeking their fallen masters. The wandering Magimech would eventually break down and become waystones. Their intention being to lead their masters back to Nazcaä.

As centuries passed, the only remains of Nazcaä would be their magimech and waystones, tales of the Wizard King, and the Wizard's Companion. However, their connections to Nazcaä were forgotten.

*This creature hides itself among the area's scenery - it remains stationary and is encountered by alternate means, unlike other creatures that roam the area freely - it can only be encountered by approaching it in the overworld, as it will not appear in other encounters, especially as a subsidiary. Since it is aggressive, it will attempt to engage in combat, regardless of the player's level.

Locations[]

In Ni no Kuni II[]

In the centuries following the events of the first game and possibly in a different world, a new kingdom called Allegoria would be established on the continent. Initially small and weak as a nation, the King of Allegoria formed a pact with a Kingmaker known as Alisandra. For a time, the kingdom grew in prosperity and influence as a result of Alisandra’s protection. When Doloran ascended the throne at a young age, he fell in love with Alisandra and they believed that such love was an offense to the will of the Gods.

Wanting to be with Doloran free of sin, Alisandra attempted to relinquish the power of the Kingmaker. But in doing so released an immensely evil and powerful entity called the Horned One, which was imprisoned by Alisandra’s identity as Kingmaker. The Horned One utterly destroyed the continent, and the resulting burst of energy also created enormous rifts in the world’s oceans. What remained of Nazcaä was cast into a different dimension, along with the Horned One, to prevent further destruction across the world.

Doloran, acting on incomplete information believes Alisandra to be trapped within the Horned One and using the power of stolen Kingsbonds from across the world, draws both the destroyed continent and the Horned One back into the world so that he may be reunited with both his love, and his fallen kingdom.

Trivia[]
