Rusty Cartwright (クロード Kurōdo?, "Corrode") is a mechanic in Motorville. He is the husband of Betty Cartwright and the father of Myrtle Cartwright. His soul mate is Rashaad.
Plot[]
Oliver travels to Al Mamoon to talk to Rashaad, who says that he gave up magic because Shadar made his daughter, Esther, brokenhearted.
Oliver and Drippy travel to Motorville and find Esther's soul mate, Myrtle Cartwright. Her house is to the bottom-right of the shopping street in town. While trying to enter, a neighbor passes by and gives some town gossip to Oliver, saying that her family has had problems lately. Oliver uses Spring Lock to open her house door, she is inside and says she is ill and can't leave the house or her dad will get mad. Oliver goes to her dad's workshop to talk to him.
Rusty is suffering from a Nightmare, and Oliver is forced to fight it. Then Betty Cartwright, Rusty's wife, comes in, offering him food but he didn't want to eat because he's not hungry but when she protest that he knock the food over and she leaves. After the Nightmare is gone she went back and tried to help him. Oliver uses Take Heart to take her kindness and Give Heart to repair Rusty's heart.
He then goes home and apologizes to his daughter for the way he acted when he wasn't himself, prompting the scene in which Myrtle steps outside for the first time. Oliver uses Take Heart after this scene to get Myrtle's courage, then travels back to the other world, where he fixes Esther's heart with it. Afterward, as thanks, Rashaad takes Oliver to the Temple of Trials.
In an errand, you can go back to Rusty's Workshop later to fix a broken mechanical part.
Personality[]
Rusty initially acts rudely, cruelly, and strictly, due to his broken heart/Nightmare. Once the Nightmare is defeated and his kindness restored, he's shown to have a warm, comforting personality. Like Rashaad, he cares for his family, and Rusty apologizes to his daughter for his unkind behavior.
Appearance[]
- In the PS3 game, he has dark skin, brown eyes, and black hair. He also has a beard. He wears a dull green collared shirt with long sleeves (that are pushed up), a yellow tie, black pants, a brown belt, and brown shoes.
- In the NDS game, he has pale skin while Rashaad has darker skin.
Trivia[]
- Rusty and his family are the only characters with revealed last names (Cartwright) in the PS3 game.
- While Rusty's wife, Betty, is shown, we never know about her soul mate.
