Toko

TAMING TIP: Toko scare easily. On Ugly Duckling Isle, any enemy group that charges you is not likely to contain a Toko (there are exceptions), while any group that runs away from you is more likely to contain a Toko. Because they are faster than Oliver on the overworld, and very alert, Toko groups are very difficult to sneak up on. One possible strategy is to scare them into a corner (such as the highest point of the peninsula,) hang back until they forget about you, then swoop in for battle. When the encounter begins, immediately focus on bringing Toko down as it will often attempt to flee. Having the "Upper Hand" perk is a huge plus, as is the "Veil" spell given to you during Horace's side-questline. Moon-aligned physical attackers will also give low-level players more of an edge. You may want to consider disabling ally's abilities via the "Tactics" option, on the off chance of an area effect ability KO-ing an impressed Toko.

Toko can also be found as the team leader on the overworld, and its location can be seen on page 213 of the wizard's companion, via zooming on the wisp on the right side of the page. This will grant encountering a Double Star one, which is easier to catch because of its tendency to trap itself in the corner.
